Career Highlights: Hovey will make his second Olympic appearance after finishing 13th in double sculls at the Beijing Games with Wes Piermarini.
This time, Hovey will team with Piermarini, Alex Osborne and Peter Graves on the quadruple sculls boat. Hovey finished 12th
in that event at the 2009 world championships. He began rowing in 1998 and competed collegiately at the University of California,
Berkeley. While with the Golden Bears, Hovey took first at the varsity eight at the IRA championships and the Pac-10 championships
in 2006. Hovey is currently a substitute elementary school teacher in Chula Vista, Calif., but may pursue an MBA or help start
a brewery following the Games. Hovey’s maternal grandfather, Charles A. Meyer, was the Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American
Affairs from 1969-73.
