PLAYERS
Biography: Two-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior campaign. Led Kentucky in tackles the past two seasons, posting
143 tackles/11.5 tackles for loss/3 sacks as a senior and 144/16/3 as a junior. Also intercepted four passes last year and
broke up five more.
Positives: Tough, hardworking linebacker who gives effort until the whistle blows. Instinctive, quickly locates the ball and remains disciplined with assignments. Collapses to the outside in run defense, displays ability in pursuit and beats ballcarriers to the corners. Plays sideline to sideline, gets depth on pass drops and is effective in zone coverage. Sells out on the blitz. Negatives: Possesses marginal playing strength. Removed from plays by blocks or gets pushed off the point. Not a strong wrap-up tackler despite his production. Analysis: Trevathan is a high-effort defender with a competitive nature, and he was productive in all facets of the game. Limited by size, he could have a home in a one-gap defense that allows him to freely flow to the ballcarrier. Trevathan comes with a special teams mentality, which will be his ticket at the next level. Projection: 6th |
