Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his sophomore campaign and named to numerous All-American teams the past two years. Lined up at left tackle for Western Oregon.
Positives: Explosive and athletic small school tackle who projects to guard in the NFL. Quick off the snap, jolts opponents at the point of attack and plays with a nasty attitude. Attacks assignments, goes after opponents and shows violence in his game. Keeps his head on a swivel, picks up stunts or blitzes and works well with teammates. Patient, displays good awareness and uses all his assets to their maximum. Incredibly quick, shows skill pulling across the line of scrimmage and relatively effective blocking in motion. Stays square and always works to get pad on defenders to knock them from their angle of attack. Solid overall body strength with the ability to overwhelm opponents.
Negatives: Not a natural knee bender, gets tall in his blocking and does a lot of arm wrestling. Lacks footwork sliding out in pass protection. Inflexible, which adversely affects his ability to finish blocks.
Analysis: Slowey was a consistent player on the small school level and who consistently got positive results as a blocker the past three years. He must improve his fundamentals yet could be an invaluable backup at guard or possibly center in the NFL.
