Biography: Four-year starter used at both left and right tackle. All-conference selection since his sophomore season and named to several All-American teams the past two years.
Positives: Well-sized, athletic blocker with good upside. Quickly sets up off the snap, blocks with good lean and is mechanically sound. Keeps his feet moving throughout the action, is effective in pass protection and displays quickness in his all-around game. Works his hands throughout the action, picks up blitzes thrown by the opposition and blocks with good pad level. Stays square, keeps defenders in front of him and jolts opponents with good hand punch.
Negatives: Shows stiffness in his game. Lacks top footwork and blocking range. Does not possess a dominant lower body and struggles finishing blocks.
Analysis: Compton was a terrific small school lineman who has the size and body to play at the next level. He offers potential for a variety of positions on the offensive line yet will need a year in an NFL weight training program before he's ready to see consistent action with the starting lineup.
