BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Tennessee may not be getting much respect in the preseason college football magazines, but it's not carrying over into the Southeastern Conference.

The Volunteers, the defending national champions, were picked to win the SEC East on Thursday at the league's annual media days. Tennessee received 53 of 77 first-place votes.

The Vols, who have been ranked as low as fifth in some publications, were also picked to win the SEC Championship.

Arkansas was picked to win the SEC West, receiving 34 first-place votes. That was enough to edge Alabama, which received 23 votes.

Arkansas receiver Anthony Lucas headlined the preseason All-Sec team, receiving the most votes with 68.

There was one suprise in the quarterback selection: Georgia's Quincy Carter was picked ahead of Tennessee's Tee Martin. Carter received 35 votes. Martin's vote total was not released.

Tennessee lineman Darwin Walker anchored the preseason defense with 58 votes.
