Fantasy Player Projections

Alex Smith

Smith has been leading the 49ers to numerous victories, but he isn't doing much for fantasy owners. He has thrown for more than 201 yards once and has four games with one TD or less. He has a tough matchup this week against the 12th ranked pass defense.

Frank Gore

Gore was a monster again last week and has now rushed for at least 125 yards and a TD in each of the last four games. The Redskins' defense is ranked 21st against the run and Gore will likely be a workhorse again.

Kendall Hunter

Hunter remains Frank Gore's primary backup, although that hasn't meant much lately as Gore has been downright dominant. As long as Gore is healthy, Hunter remains a weak fantasy option.

Michael Crabtree

Crabtree has been Alex Smith's favorite target over the last two games and he finally seems to be over his myriad of injuries. If Alex Smith can get him the ball, Crabtree may be able to make things happen.

Braylon Edwards

Edwards was targeted seven times last week and was able to grab four of them for 42 yards. He has a tough matchup this week against the Redskins and still relies on Alex Smith to get him the ball.

Vernon Davis

Davis has only managed to reach 50 receiving yards once this season and has been a disappointment for fantasy owners everywhere. He's only gotten more than six targets once and he's got a tough matchup this week against the Redskins.

David Akers

Akers is 7-of-7 in his last three games and remains valuable for a 49ers team that can move the ball effectively but can't always punch it into the end zone.

The 49ers' run defense is the best in the NFL so far and will likely dominate a relatively weak Redskins' backfield. With John Beck under center, the 49ers defense could give fantasy owners some nice points.

John Beck

Facing the league's top run defense, Beck will likely need to throw often this week against the 49ers. That isn't necessarily good news, as he has thrown 85 passes this year but has recorded only one passing TD.

Ryan Torain

Torain struggled mightily last week against the Bills, rushing for only 14 yards on eight carries. He now faces the 49ers defense, which is ranked first in the NFL against the run and hasn't given up a rushing TD all year.

Roy Helu Jr.

Helu didn't receive a single carry last week, though he was able to catch three passes for 20 yards. The Redskins face the NFL's top run defense this week, so it's difficult to see him making any impact.

Jabar Gaffney

Gaffney remains at the top of the WR depth chart while Santana Moss is out and he should see more targets this week against a 49ers defense that has been shutting down opposing running games, forcing QBs to throw more often.

Terrence Austin

Austin will continue to try to fill some of the void left by Santana Moss, although it's tough to see him making much of an impact this week against a steller 49ers' defense.

Fred Davis

Davis has at least 90 yards receiving or a TD in each of the past three weeks and he remains the best pass catcher on the team with Santana Moss out. If the 49ers force the Redskins to throw, Davis could be busy this week.

Graham Gano

With the Redskins' offense struggling to move the ball lately, Gano hasn't gotten as many opportunities are earlier in the year. It's tough to see the Redskins doing a lot against a tough 49ers defense, which would leave Gano on the sideline.

The Redskins' defense is 20th against the run this year and will have a very tough test this week trying to contain Frank Gore, who has rushed for over 100 yards in each of the past four games.
