A Daily Recap of the Dan Patrick Show ...

Q & A with LaDainian Tomlinson

DP: If Brett Favre said he was coming back to Minnesota, would that have changed your mind?
LT: I would have still went to New York.

DP: I don't believe you. I wish I could see your face right now. Did you guys text?
LT: I knew he had been in both places. I kind of wanted to get his idea of both places.

DP: He lobbied you to go to Minnesota, didn't he?
LT: Yeah, I mean, he definitely did.

DP: Did he get a hold of you first or did you get a hold of him?
LT: He reached out to me.

DP: Doesn't that lead you to believe he's going to come back and play?
LT: Yeah it does, but like I said before, that had nothing to do with my decision. I think at the end of the day, even though Favre hasn't said he's coming back, you just didn't know for sure.

DP: If Favre is in Minnesota still playing, who has a better chance of going to the Super Bowl, Minnesota or the Jets?
LT: That's a good question. Both of them were in the conference championship game last year. I can't put one up over the other.

We had a group of Bagpipers in the studio to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Insert your own joke.

New Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson joined the show to talk about his decision to go to New York over Minnesota.

Dan asked if Brett Favre was definitely going back to Minnesota, what would have happened? "I would have still went to New York," Tomlinson said. "At the end of the day, even though Favre hasn't said he's coming back, you just don't know for sure."

Tomlinson explained why he chose the Jets. "With the Jets, I know the offense," Tomlinson said. "I know Brian Schottenheimer. I enjoy being around Rex Ryan. So it was just a better fit.

L.T. said this wasn't about money. "I could have taken more money to go to Minnesota," Tomlinson said.

Dan asked if Tomlinson expects to be the starter Week 1. "I'm not going in there with any idea of whether I'm going to the best starter or anything like that," Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson said that he no longer fit with the Chargers because they changed their style of play.

Dan asked what other teams besides the Vikings and the Jets talked to him. L.T. wouldn't say, but he did say it wasn't the Redskins or Patriots. He said would have never gone to Oakland. But he said that Denver was an option.

CBS golf analyst David Feherty joined the show to talk about Tiger Woods' announcement he'll play at the Masters.

Feherty doesn't think Tiger's presence will drastically alter the tournament. "Once the bell rings on Thursday, the Masters is the Masters," Feherty said.

In fact, Feherty thinks this is the right tournament for Tiger. "It's the ideal stage for Tiger to come back on," Feherty said. "It's going to be a fantastic moment for our sport."

Feherty said golf fans really want to know how Tiger is going to play. They won't be focused on the off-course stuff.

Feherty also thinks Tiger is still the favorite. "He's played badly and he's finished in the top five," Feherty said.

Feherty even says that Woods' absence may make him sharper. "He may come back even more centered," Feherty said.

CBS college hoops analyst Clark Kellogg joined the show to offer his take on the NCAA Tournament.

Kellogg said that the two matchups that everyone is looking at as supposed "upsets" are Siena over Purdue and UTEP over Butler.

Kellogg said that the three most likely No. 1's to reach the Final Four are Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse. Kellogg isn't sure about Duke. "They're still not as strong or as flawless as the other No. 1's," Kellogg said of the Blue Devils.

Kellogg said that the Jayhawks have a tough draw in the Midwest. "It doesn't look like Kansas got the winds of least resistance in their draw," Kellogg said. Nevertheless, Kellogg thinks Kansas is the best team.

Kellogg also weighed in on John Wall. He said that Wall is the best American draft prospect. He said he wasn't sure about foreign prospects. But he would give Evan Turner player of the year. "I think Evan Turner has been the most consistent scintillating performer," Kellogg said.
