AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Kara Lawson scored 23 points as second-ranked Tennessee won its sixth straight game and remained unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play with a 66-53 victory over No. 22 Auburn. Lawson was 9-of-13, including 2-of-3 from the arc, and pulled down eight rebounds for Tennessee (17-1, 6-0 SEC), which scored the game's final nine points. Ashley Robinson added 10 points and six rebounds for the Volunteers, who held the Tigers to 30 percent (19-of-64) shooting . Le'Coe Willingham had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Auburn (14-6, 2-5), which sank just 1-of-11 from the arc. Natasha Brackett added 13 points but shot only 6-of-17. The Tigers have lost two straight and three of its last four games. Auburn was 11-1 prior to the start of conference play. Tennessee's bench, which goes eight deep, outscored the Tigers' reserves, 25-13. The Vols, who have not lost since an 86-72 setback at top-ranked Connecticut on January 5, shot 46 percent (25-of-55) from the field. |
