Mets fall in Game 6 to kill hopes of all-New York World Series
The 1996 World Series will be replayed this October. Atlanta finally finishes off the never-say-die Mets to close a series that was full of dramatic endings and unlikely heroes, including NLCS MVP Eddie Perez. The Braves squandered a 5-0 lead only to win in 11 innings 10-9 on a bases-loaded walk by Andruw Jones. The Braves' pennant is their fifth of the 1990s, but they lost the 1996 World Series in six games to the Yankees.
